The curtain rose at 8:15 p.m. for Random Acts’ first dress rehearsal. The evening began with a dramatic plea, written by Bruce Kane and performed by Dave Rattle, for the audience to be courteous and not interrupt the play with cell phone conversations, bathroom breaks, unwrapping noisy food packaging, etc… This friendly chastising rant was witty and humourous, and vocalized most theatergoers’ pet peeves to a tee.

The final skit of the night was Monster Dating, written by Bruce Kane, in which an unlucky-in-love woman (Sherry Hayes) keeps meeting monstrous men through an internet dating service. First on the list is Frank[enstein] played by Ken MacPherson, followed by a werewolf (Cody Hurst) and Count Dracula (Ryan Geick). Monster Dating is simple, unadulterated fun.

Random Acts is a productionof the Bancroft Theater Guild and closes its run with three shows - on Fri. Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. and on Sat. Oct. 27 at 2 p.m and 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale at Harvest Moon and Posies. Admission is $12 for the evening shows, $10 for the afternoon programme.
